Colorado Springs, Colo. (Aug. 21, 2006) – Tina Pic (Dahlonega, Ga./Colavita-Cooking Light) and Floyd Landis (Murrieta, Calif.) lead the USA Cycling National Racing Calendar standings for a second week in a row.
Despite crashing out at the USCF Criterium Championships in Downers Grove, Ill. and not competing in the Manhattan Beach Grand Prix in Manhattan Beach, Calif., Pic maintained her lead of 2106 points over Kristin Armstrong’s (Boise, Idaho, TEAm Lipton) 1897 points after 37 of 43 races. Laura Van Gilder (Pocono Pines, Calif./TEAm Lipton) remains in third with 1440 points with her second-place finish at the Criterium Championships.
Team Lipton once again stands atop the women’s team standings with 4741 points, leaving the rest of team standings unchanged.
Landis once again holds onto the lead in the men’s category with his wins in the Amgen Tour of California and the Ford Tour de Georgia, giving him 1270 points. Though Landis has not raced since the 2006 Tour de France, his amassed points are still strong enough to keep him in the top position. Greg Henderson (NZL) moved ahead of his Health Net teammate Nathan O’Neill (AUS) in the standings to slip into second with 1189 points. Juan Jose Haedo (ARG) climbed to fourth with his win at the Manhattan Beach Grand Prix.
The men’s team standings remain unchanged from last week, with Health Net holding on to a commanding lead with 4939 points.
The USA Cycling National Racing Calendar continues Saturday with the Chris Thater Memorial in Binghamton, N.Y.
